If you don’t know
I know I haven’t been posting to my blog too often but I’ll make up for it when this is all over. I’ll keep posting on the trip, but I’m limited to my phone.
In the picture is something everyone should eat! An egg sandwich from a Long Island deli. One of the reasons I made this trip!
Behind the sandwich is the 4500 square foot house I was framing on Long Island. An old boss put me to work for a week. Had a great time working with the old crew, they’re like family. Hand nailing & yelling all day trying not to get heat stroke. More people should frame the old school way.
Edit-6000 sq-ft house with a 3 car garage. Thanks Frank.
Earn that check!

Southern Hospitality
Been on Texas for a few days. Been hot the whole time. First place I stopped a man said “howdy, how ya’ll doin today?” Been meeting a lot of good people since I rolled in.
Don’t ride at night unless you want to dodge deer and armadillos! Really, its sketchy!
Slept at a few rest areas, not bad just gotta stay off the ground due to the huge bugs all over.
Stayed with the Booker fam in Austin for 1 night, Jon was having an art show for Failure at his gallery/store Seventy Seven Gallery.
Rode to Katy just west of Houston to meet my Ma’s high school friend Diane and her husband Gary. They’ve been great! Cooked me meals, let me do laundry, shower (I needed it), and took me to Brazos Bend state park to see Gators!
Heading to New Orleans next! This trip has been great!
Keep getting more Google Latitude requests too.
Joe
First night camping
25 mile west of Kingman, AZ.
I pulled off on a dirt road and found a good spot about a mile away from the loud highway.
A little creepy the first night but I ended up getting a pretty good sleep with one hand on my knife!

First Day
I left my house in Santa Cruz at 10 and rode to Gold Coast Tattoo to meet Mike Wilson.
Mike showed me a good scenic route through Monterey and Pebble Beach, then we got on HWY 1! Beautiful coastal views & twisty roads.
Mike rode with me For a couple hours then I was on my own.
Had lunch in Cambria, saw elephant seals, and dodged progressively crazy drivers the closer I got to LA.
Made it to Shane’s house around 10pm where Cortez greeted me! Then it was off to the bar to meet Shane, Matt, and their ladies.
It was a great first day!

Merica Tour
I’m hitting the road today on my 2002 Sporty 883R! Been planning this trip for a few months now, still loosely planned though. I’ll be on the road for around 6 weeks. I’m planning on going to the Bastard Bash at Deals Gap in NC. and the Gypsy Run in NJ. Other than that I’m going to stop to visit a few friends along the way and get lost on some great roads.
I’m couch surfing and camping my way across the country. A few people will be joining me for different parts of my trip, but I’ll be solo for most of it.
I’m going to be using Google Latitude on this trip. If you’d like to follow where I am anytime send me a request and I’ll add you. mrjoec2@gmail.com. The easiest way to follow me using Latitude is to add it to your iGoogle.com page. That way you don’t have to show me where you’re at, I’m sure you’re hiding something anyways!
I’ll be writing and adding pictures every few days.
From LA, CA. to Albuquerque, NM.
From Santa Fe, NM. to Austin, TX.
From Austin, TX. to New Orleans, LA.

Zacks Ass Here
My old friend Zack hit me up to do a saddle for his bicycle recently. He had a simple request for the tooling.
I had fun making this saddle and it definitely won’t be hard to figure out who the owner of the bike is.
Check out Zack’s blog! He’s an awesome artist/designer. Butter ‘N’ Bacon
