Nov 5th my friend Hudge and I left home for the Slab City Riot 2 in Slab City at the bottom of the Salton Sea. We rode to his friends Dylan and Flack’s house in Thousand Oaks to hangout and crash for the night. Bunch of people kept coming and going all night on their bikes. At the end of the night we packed 14 bikes into the garage! A beautiful sight! New, old, custom, stock, & awesome!
Saturday morning Hudge, Flack, Button, Dylan, & I headed out for our 230 mile ride to the Riot. We managed to get split up, lost, & get there right as the sun was setting. But no problems with the bikes! We set up camp and joined the 1200+ other bikers in an awesome party till late at night.
The locals are a trip to say the least. They’re a mix of hippy/bum/drunk/tweeker/freaks that live for free in the southern CA desert that basically looks like some sort of scene out of a Mad Max movie. A car was set on fire 5 times (that I counted) that night, cops and border patrol were lurking around but not really bugging anyone.
Overall it was an epic event/party with great people and bikes. Ran into people that I met on the east coast, made new friends, and checked out Salvation Mountain!
Sunday Hudge and I had a 550 mile ride home. It was all going pretty good until we hit the rain! About 3-4 hours away from home the sun started to set, the temp dropped, and it started to rain. By the time we made it home everything we had on and were carrying was soaked to the core. Maybe next time I’ll prepare for the weather.
Overall it was an awesome adventure! Wouldn’t change a thing.
Thanks to everyone that put this event together! See you next year.
